Can you hear God’s call?
Today I was reminded of calling.
In the book of Isaiah chapter 6 the prophet Isaiah is called by God and commissioned to use his voice to speak to God’s people. He must share the message of imminent ruin, necessary repentance, and future restoration. When God summons the prophet and Isaiah enters His throne room, Isaiah is undone by the Lord’s magnificence. Feeling completely inept for the call, he cries out humbly, “Woe to me! I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Standing before the Holy God, Isaiah is acutely aware of his wretched and desperate state of brokenness. Without God, Isaiah is useless. But once God has forgiven Isaiah for his sins through His atoning sacrifice, the grateful prophet can hear and act on the call of God on his life.
When God asks, “Who shall I send?” Isaiah responds in abandonment, “Here am I, Send me.”
Have you heard the voice of the Lord?
If not, are you listening? If so, have you answered?
It is time to embrace your call; God wants to send you!
